abstract = {The Slovenian railways are considered the largest carrier of freight and passenger traffic in Slovenia. Because of permanently increasing demands of neighbouring countries and domestic companies for transporting of loads we need more modern traction vehicles in Slovenia. Slovenian locomotives are around 40 years old, they are becoming too expensive to maintain, and being too weak they are not capable of satisfing international demands. That is why in 2006 the Slovenian railways will introduce multi-voltage Siemens 6 MW locomotives. This locomotive is made to meet all European standards and will be able to work in different systems of electric traction. In addition to the obsolete locomotives, Slovenia also has unsuitable tracks with too steep climbs. That is why all the characteristics of this locomotive are shown in detail in the paper and this locomotive has a large capacity for the traction of goods trains.},
