	abstract = {In adsorption cooling processes, the engineer faces the problem of inefficient heat and mass transfer in the heat compressor. This results in small specific cooling power of the device, which determines its size or the amount of adsorbent necessary for an undisturbed cooling process. With new designs of heat exchangers in heat compressors, heat and mass transfer can be considerably more efficient. One possible design is a heat compressor with a compact layer of adsorbent. The operation of the cooling device is described and the results of simulation for a case concerning several parallel tubes in a heat compressor are analysed. The values of the coefficient of performance are analysed with regard to the number of tubes and layer thickness. It was established that the intensity of the process which takes place in the heat processor is influenced to a considerable extent by the type of material from which the compact layer is made, and less by the layer ’s structure.},
